Amazing WordPress Contact Form.

A client of mine wanted me to create a ‘membership’ sign up on their wordpress blog and I really didn’t want to have play contractor and out-source to a developer. My primary area’s of expertise is the visual appearance of a website. I’m a front-End developer not a programmer. But thankfully it was wordpress and there are literally 1000′s of plug-ins and widgets for use with these themes.

Contact Form 7 Saves the Day!

At first I wasn’t sure what I was dealing with but another designer I know highly recommended it and I have to say it is incredibly modifiable,  and can be customized to suite any instance you need people to enter data and send it to you.

If you need a FEEDBACK form to be AODA (Ontario Canada Only) or a membership sign-up, this plug-in will suite your needs.

Lets look inside.

Once installed this is what you get, more or less – some of my modifications are already in place on the form side of things.

 

There’s basically 3 parts – the ‘Form’ pane on the left, the ‘Generate Tags’ on the right and then below those two is the ‘Mail’ message pane.

You use the ‘Generate Tag’ pane to make the tags that you’ll add to the other two. What I like about this is that it really allows you to customize things. Right down to adding styles around the tags.

Just click the ‘Generate Tag’ select the type of tag you want – I’ll pick a text field.

So name the tag, where it says ‘text-879′ this could be Email, then you add any other info you need, the watermark is where you see the text inside the field and when you click in the field it disappears.
then when your done you just copy the tags out of the copy tags section (they’re colored) and click the save button – bam your form is done.
