Don’t Forget Your Image Meta Data
The web is a vast and wonderous sea of sites and at the end of the day you’ll never know where your images will wash up. One sure fire way to make sure you get credit for your images is to add the meta data to them. For example I collected from around the web all the best costumes that I could find and have been adding them to an album in my facebook. If you have the proper data in your images it will auto fill fields in facebook with your image information. Through the looking glass. Lets start. I first get my image – in...

A client of mine wanted me to create a ‘membership’ sign up on their wordpress blog and I really didn’t want to have play contractor and out-source to a developer. My primary area’s of expertise is the visual appearance of a website. I’m a front-End developer not a programmer. But thankfully it was wordpress and there are literally 1000′s of plug-ins and widgets for use with these themes. Contact Form 7 Saves the Day! At first I wasn’t sure what I was dealing with but another designer I know highly...

I’ve been having some really weird issues with Photoshop lately. I’ll be laying out some sample body copy and hit the enter key to start a new paragraph and the space between lines is HUGE. I check my leading and it’s at alright 12pt font 16pt leading. So the spacing should be fine. Well, I had the issue for a few days and it was really starting to tick me off. What was causing the line height to be all wonky. I tried to correct the issue pulling the line height waaaaaaay back to like 0.01pt which kinda made it...

So you’ve just bought the latest version of Adobe CS5, perhaps its the designer suite and you’ve installed it on your desktop computer and you think. Hey I wish I could install this on my Laptop too. As you can see by the surroundings here I’m a devotee of a style and design that is nostalgic if not in an era of rebirth. The illustrative stylings of the 40′s and 50′s are simply beautiful to me.And over the years I’ve clung on to some artists that really have mastered the genre. This article is about paying homage to the artisans that I hold in great esteem. How do I set a custom icon to a folder that is on or off my computer? Well that’s easy..with just a few steps. (this works on Windows 7, I’m not sure how it’ll work with older OS, and MAC’s can do this intuitively already) What you’ll need. An Icon to use with the folder, or an image to be turned into an icon. You’ll also need an image editor I’m using Photoshop CS5, and Axialis IconWorkshop6. But with a Google search you can find a plugin for Photoshop that lets you save “.ico” files....

Anyone that truly knows me – knows that I change my background picture several times a day. My insatiable desire for more visual stimulation seems to demand it. So after visiting Chapters (here in Canada) today with my family, I saw a display with some retro packaging on it from Gary Taxali, and was instantly drawn to it. I bought myself a retro chalkboard from his collection for my desk. It’ll sit nicely on a small easel that I picked up from Ikea. From one of the photo’s I snapped of the display, I made this desktop...
