FREE Font Lavanderia
I have to say this is my new favourite font! Lavanderia, created by James T. Edimondson the same fella that created the font Duke.
Lavanderia is just a beautiful working open type font with all sorts of extra ligatures and decorative elements for all your design needs. Its simply brilliant, I just love staring it its curves.

Do you know of any reason why this might not be downloading properly? I have tried multiple times, but it still will not register in my Fonts folder. =S I have a PC, so I hope that’s not the problem.
Hmmm, I’m not entirely sure what exactly is happening. I downloaded the font from the post fine. I unzipped it to my desktop and then moved it to my fonts folder. I know you can’t just drag it out of a zip folder into a system folder like your fonts folder. It’s some security thing that Windows7 does.

There are 2 folders, and i iliminated the one for MAC.

Well, since this font is so curvy it would be awful to pick a font that would compete for attention against this font. So I would suggest going with a simple looking font. Perhaps Avenir? or a similar sans serif font. A serif could work but it would depend on the font. Some of the most powerful designs out there are simple ones so don’t forget the ‘kiss’ rule.
Another good resource is to check out the list of free Google web fonts out there that might compliment this. It beats being tied down to the previous handful of default web fonts. Good luck, and happy designing.
Nice font, did you know that Lavanderia is for laundry in spanish?
I’m having a hard time getting the font to curve like the end of your a, on the example of the font. What am I missing?

@misty – I’m not sure what software you’re using the font for. But in Photoshop if the a is hanging it’ll automatically swap out the a with a curl. Its an ‘open type’ font ability to use ‘Contextual Alternatives’ I suspect if you’re using something like word you’d have to use the top ribbon bar where you format the font and go into the font preferences. There’s an advanced tab in there that might have them.

My advice in this instance is always go to the source. Then you’ll have a paper trail should something go sour.

I would love to download this font but getting errors every turn. Any suggestions? Says invalid font.
I don’t know what to tell you Kristy, I haven’t changed anything. I clicked the link and it did work. If you mouse over the link it should say: http://markwilhelm.ca/wp-content/uploads/media/freefont_lavanderia.zip. the other thing you can always try is to go to the source. Click the name of the font’s designer, and go to his site to get it. I’ve had the odd user that couldn’t download it. The only logical thing is that my hosting company was performing maintenance at the time. At least there are some options for you. Perhaps you have a downloaded toolbar or something that’s getting in the way? really not sure. Thx a ton for visiting though – try and check out the rest of the content here if you have some time.

I’m having problems as well downloading this font (Lav). The other fonts downloaded fine on my pc. I used the same procedure with this font and it is the only one not downloading. It acts like it does, but then it’s not there. Any suggestions? Thanks.
From what I’ve dug up its an issue with my Host company. They told me if you can’t get it then try back later. Its a pain in the butt and I do apologize. So please be patient.
