OCAS

Client: OCAS
Role: Lead Designer
Team: Product, Content, Development
Duration: 4 Months
Platform: Public Website
OCAS.ca

Objective

OCAS required a complete redesign of its corporate website to better communicate the organization’s products, services, and role within Ontario’s post-secondary education ecosystem. The existing experience no longer reflected the breadth of services offered by the organization or the evolving needs of its audiences, which included colleges, guidance counsellors, partners, government stakeholders, and prospective students.

The objective was to create a modern, accessible, and flexible website that clearly communicated OCAS’s mission while providing intuitive pathways to its growing portfolio of services and resources.

Approach

As the sole designer on the project, I was responsible for the user experience and visual design of the website. Working closely with Product, Content, and Development teams, I helped define information architecture, content hierarchy, navigation structures, and the overall visual direction of the experience.

The redesign focused on simplifying access to information while highlighting the organization’s expanding service offerings. Particular attention was given to audience segmentation, ensuring that prospective students, college partners, guidance counsellors, and institutional stakeholders could quickly locate relevant resources. The visual design extended and modernized the OCAS brand while creating a flexible framework capable of supporting future growth.

Outcome

The completed website provided OCAS with a modern digital presence that better represented the organization, its services, and its role within Ontario’s college system. The redesign improved content organization, strengthened the visibility of key products and services, and established a scalable foundation for future initiatives.

The project became an important part of OCAS’s broader digital evolution and helped reinforce the organization’s position as a trusted partner serving colleges, applicants, and stakeholders across Ontario.

I had also designed the previous version of the logo. This brand worked in SACO, which was the fresh equivalent of OCAS. Eventually, the brand would mature to stand as just OCAS and even the ‘Ontario College Application Service’ was dropped.
